Fired for Walking:

Rick Costello – Drums
Joel Hoyle – Guitar, Vocals
Mike Starbuck – Guitar, Vocals

FIRED FOR WALKING is a rock and roll band from Houston, Texas. A city, musically, known for rap, r&b, southern-fried rock, indie-pop and noise-rock bands. We are none of these… We are four people who love music; period. We love listening to it, writing it, playing it, watching people play it, reading about it, etc…

It just so happens to be that, together, the music we make falls under the label of rock music. We love the Stones, Prince, Fugazi, Otis Redding, Torche, Supergrass, Elvis Costello, and on, and on.

We are fans of music, in a band that has one rule, play what we want and make it sound good. Wait, is that two rules…?

Here are some things other’s have said about us:

“Fired for Walking is a loud and thoroughly hell-bound rock band, and that’s just how we like it… The music, while primal, still speaks of true artistic temperament… and the songwriting shows great style.” – Jef With One F (Houston Press) Read full article

“…enjoyable mix of mid-late ’90s post-grunge alterna-rock and ’70s classic rock hooks, all powered by two guitar players who traded both lead lines and vocal duties… good energy and camaraderie during its set, along with a strong belief in the music it was making, all qualities that Aftermath values in any band.” – Adam P. Newton (Houston Press)

“It’s like, somewhere between Sebadoh and Soundgarden…” (dude at a show)

“These boys play spastic, riff-oriented rockers that get slowed down (in the good way) by Rick Costello’s big, heavy drums and brought back up by Joel Hoyle’s soulful vocals.” – Lance Scott Walker (002Houston Magazine) Read full article
